What are the powers denied to Congress?


In Article 1, section 9 of the Constitution, it is stated the Congress was denied the power to limit slave trade until 1808, and important compromise between the Northern and Southern States. After that, it continues by mentioning any suspensions of the privilege of Habeas Corpus would no longer be valid, and no suspensions could be issued in the future.

What are the powers denied to states?


States were denied the ability to form any alliance with any other state or confederation. Continuing on, states were also denied the power to develop a unique form of money. Furthermore, states we denied the power to assign any duties on imports or exports without permission of the Congress. Also, no state was granted the ability to enter an agreement with another state without Congress’s consent.
